I love teaching. Guitar technique, voice, performance, all that. Business consulting, too.

  1. Randall,
I’ve just discovered you on YouTube and think you’re an awesome guitar teacher! I don’t know the first thing about guitar but I want to learn how to play. Do you pass through Cincinnati or Kansas City anytime? I’d love to pick up some lessons from you. Thanks for posting your teaching sessions on YouTube. They’re awesome. You’ve got a great sound.

  2. Randall,

Just want to thank you for your lessons on Jamplay. I really enjoy your teaching style.

  3. Hey Randall, Love your music and love your lesson over at Jamplay. Your teaching style is so relaxing, talking your lesson is meditating! I was taught on strumming and had found difficulty moving onto finger style until I came across your lessons. It has really been a break through for me, making me want to pick up the guitar again. Now, over at Jamplay, you only a few toolbox lessons. I am still trying to pickup my skills so I haven’t been learning your capo lessons yet. Are there more of your toolbox lessons out there? More more please! Would you do more at Jamplay and pickup from your last toolbox there? Mostly I like to say thank you.

  4. I have palyed guitar, off and on since 1966. Im now 56 and have had very little formal teaching. So I have struggled through the years learning what I could figure out from books and lead sheets. I some how managed to get enough that I was able to play with our church group but not what I would consider good, just getting by. Often times I would get frustrated enough that I simply put the guitar away. In the past couple of years I heard some thing different to me. Fingerstyle. It recreated that spark of thats what I have to play.
Though I still try to use books, dvds and video, I still couldn’t get it. The struggle continues but I can’t stop looking and reasearching information or that magic some thing. Music theroy was just to confusing to figure out. Recently I signed up with JamPlay and found some useful stuff. ( Now the reason for this comment ) I now have great hope and have already found big improvement in my ability in only a couple of days. Why? Randall Williams music theroy, tool box and capo lessons. I know I have a long way to go to get where I need to be but it finaly makes sence to me. I didn’t realize how much I needed this to be able to make this work.
Thank you for your teaching style, It is enough real stuff with enough relax dont worry about additude for me that I wasn’t getting frustrated because I wasn’t doing it exact. It works for me.
Again, Thank you so much for this huge gift.
Please know that what you do is greatly appreciated.

  5. Randall,
Taking your lessons on Jamplay, and just loving the approach to creating the “need” to play. The only thing I have to watch out for is overdoing it because my hands can tense up a bit, so I’m trying to discipline myself to take breaks, which I don’t really want to because I’m having such a great time! Also in the midst of teaching my 9 year old son, and he’s getting the 2 finger progressions and we’re making music together, amazing.

Just wanted to thank you, I’m a pro composer/percussionist keyboard player, but I always thought guitar was just too hard, and too painful on my left hand. You’ve changed that and it’s an amazing glimpse into a whole other musical world.

I’m not sure how to thank you enough for this.

    Best Regards,

  6. I am as green as they come with guitar as I just started trying to figure it out last night. That being said, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you putting the thought and energy into your lessons. Like you, my distractibility level is higher than most so the jamplay site being such a plethora of information was slightly overwhelming in some areas. However, during your videos I was actually able to relax, to absorb some great info and to enjoy myself. Your demonstration of how even 4 chords could be productive was very inspiring to a newb like me and I look forward to pressing on. Thank you so much for your help and for being such a positive person overall. You’re a contagious breath of fresh air. 🙂

  7. Hi Randall!!

Just wanted to drop a line or two and say how much I enjoy your Jamplay lessons. Your teaching style should be implemented in all high school guitar class. Teenagers are fickle, many drop the class because they don’t get to start jammin away in the first few days. This style you have, the need to play, could potentially inspire many many generations of musicians. I personally have learned more from you in 2 days with you and Jamplay, than I did in two months at Guitar Tricks (don’t get me wrong, they have great musicians and lessons). So far, you’re lessons are my fav.

I’m looking forward to crankin’ through the rest of you lessons and looking forward to many more.

    All the Best,
    AJ 🙂

  8. Hi, desperately trying to learn how to play guitar and your video has given me hope! I just bought my capo and can finally make some music. You are a blessing. Thank you.
